FAIRFIELD — Wilma Anderson, 86, of Fairfield, passed away on April 29, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born in Lockridge on June 23, 1927. She graduated from the Fairfield High School. On March 15, 1947, she married Vance Anderson in Des Moines. They worked together for more than 60 years on their farm north of Cantril. Vance and Wilma enjoyed traveling, where they visited 47 of the 50 United States. Wilma especially enjoyed family get-togethers and usually insisted on a game of “Spoons.” Her favorite pastime was playing cards and was a member of several card clubs and was always looking for a card game.
She is survived by a son, Marty (Rae Jean) Anderson of Cantril; daughter, Brenda (Cyrus) Robinson of Davenport; grandsons, Nathan (Jamie) Robinson of Coralville, Adam (Katie) Robinson of Davenport; great-grandsons, Tyler and Isaac Robinson of Coralville; sister, Joann Thys of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Marilyn Johnston of Edina, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vance and sister Alberta Johnson.
A memorial service celebrating Wilma’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cantril Christian Church; Rev. Jerry Caughron will officiate the service.
A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
