OTTUMWA — Alice E. Burke, 68, of Bettendorf, passed away May 4, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center — East Campus.
Alice was born on Jan. 30, 1946, in Oskaloosa. She was the daughter of Dr. Justus B. and Helen (Hayes) Roberts. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1964 and married John Michael Burke on Jan. 9, 1965, in Ottumwa.
She worked at Payless Cashways and Montgomery Ward and later Red Jacket/Marly Pumps, retiring after 20 years there.
Alice loved going to sporting events for her children and grandchildren and was a very strong supporter of their activities. She sold Avon and her passion was shopping, especially for shoes and purses. She enjoyed traveling specifically to San Diego to visit family. She was a caring and loyal friend and her friends always knew she was there for them.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; son Mike (Deb) Burke, Bettendorf; daughter Lisa (Vicki) Mealer-Burke, San Diego, Calif.; brother, Roy (Nancy) Roberts, Ottumwa; and grandchildren, Dallas, Logan, Justus and Sydney.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Lucille Roberts.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Runge Mortuary Chapel.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the mortuary.
