BIRMINGHAM — Beulah M. Parrott Rains, 87, of rural Birmingham, died at 8:15 p.m. May 3, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren, Keosauqua.
She was born Aug. 29, 1926, in the Oak Grove community east of Douds to Leo F. and Ella Hootman Parrott and married Robert J Rains Jr. Sept. 16, 1944, in Butler, N.C. Beulah graduated from Keosauqua High School, Class of 1944, and was a farm wife and homemaker.
Surviving are her husband of 69 years; two sons, Allan L. Rains (Maria) of Bonaparte and Roy D. Rains (Sherry) of Birmingham; a daughter, Carolyn K. Taylor (Delbert) of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren, Tracy Victory of Birmingham, Penny Brombaugh of Keosauqua, Lesa Prevo of Bloomfield, Amanda Lyons of Downing, Mo., Angie Strictler of Stockport, Sheila Rains of Farmington, Robbie Rains of Salem, Kerry Taylor of Ankeny and Kris Taylor of Fairfield; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Darrell Robert Rains; a sister, Clella McQuaide; and a brother, David Parrott.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds; Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.
Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present 6-7:30 p.m.
