BATAVIA — Ron White, 79, of Batavia, passed away at 1:30 a.m. May 10, 2014, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
Ronald Dean White was born on Jan. 20, 1934, in Marshalltown, the son of Walter B. and Florine Marquis White. He was educated in Marshalltown. Ron earned his bachelor’s degree from Central College in Pella and his master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. On Dec. 27, 1953, he married Margaret Elizabeth Ringgold in Marshalltown.
Ron taught elementary school in Lacona and Iowa Falls and later served as elementary principal for Malvern Public Schools and for Cardinal Community School.
Survivors include his wife Margaret White of Batavia; two sons, Jonathan White of Three Oaks, Mich., and James White of Agency; and two sisters, Bonnie Grabenbauer and Donna Davis, both of Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence; and two sisters, June Miles and Betty Baer.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon; Dave Albert and Mark Clark officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
A memorial fund is being established for the Living Hope Bible Church Backpack Fund.
