AGENCY — Wyman R. Webb, 72, of rural Agency, died May 13, 2014, at his home after a short battle with cancer.
He was born September 2, 1941, in Batavia, Iowa, to Russell R. and Sarah R. Griggs Webb.
Wyman graduated from Cardinal High School Batavia Center in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. On December 19, 1965, he married Nancy McMullin.
A graduate of Iowa Tech’s Computer program, he worked for John Morrell & Co. until 1973. He was employed by John Deere Ottumwa Works in the Data Systems Department for 23 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Agency Lions, the Chief Wapello Park Association and Pheasants Forever. Wyman was a naturalist, enjoying the outdoors, tree conservation, as well as pheasant and deer hunting. He was a talented gardener, woodworker, mechanic and overall handyman.
Wyman is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy; a daughter Jody (Brad) Marlay of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a son, Brian R. Webb of Batavia; a brother, James Webb of Anoka, Minn.; two sisters, Betty (Harry) Durflinger of Green Top, Mo., Patti (Robert) Whitham of Madrid, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joanne Glotfelty; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Webb.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Inurnment will be in the Batavia Cemetery.
The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Friday.
