OTTUMWA — Julia Riley Phillips, 53, of Trinity, Texas, formerly of Ottumwa and Bloomfield, died June 23, 2013, in Conroe, Texas after a short battle with lung cancer.
She was born Jan. 20, 1960, in Ottumwa to Philip and Joyce Riley. She graduated from Cardinal High School in 1978. Julia married Joe Rising in Ottumwa in August 1978; they later divorced. Julia married Mark Taylor in Texas in August 1985; they later divorced. She married Mike Phillips in Texas in December 2009.
Julia is suvived by her husband, Mike of Texas; two daughters, Jessica Rising (Jason) of Omaha, Neb., and Dannielle Taylor Cox (Trisitan) of Tyler, Texas; one granddaughter, Callie of Tyler, Texas; and four grandsons, Carter and Colton of Tyler, Texas, and Joshua and Dustin of Omaha, Neb.; five brothers, Mike (Tina) Riley of Ottumwa, Phil (Angela) Riley of Aurora, Ill., Don (Angie) Riley of Alvarado, Texas, John (Jennifer) Riley of Pekin, Ill., and Robert (Kerry) Riley of Bloomfield; three sisters, Celia (Randy) Domeyer of Winona, Minn., Susan (Bill) Slaney of Hedrick and Joyce (Tony) Ware of Bloomfield; 27 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and nephews; three uncles, Dan (Pat) Riley of Ottumwa, Don (Lois) Riley and Fran (Mary Kay) Riley, both of Davenport; two aunts, Loretta Tracy of Ankeny, and Shirley (Dave) McLaughlin of Sigourney. She is also survived by her special “adopted” uncles of Trinity, Texas, Winston Roberts and Tom Blackstock.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service was held June 27 in Trinity, Texas. A family memorial service will held later this month.
