OTTUMWA — Barbara Jean Rogers, 88, of Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of Ottumwa, died of cardiac arrest on March 26, 2013, in Palm Desert.
Barbara was born March 9, 1925, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Albert Earl and Lucille (Wallace) Willis. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1943. She married Richard Lee Staebler in April 1945. They moved to California and were later divorced. He died in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters Diana (William) Finnegan of Palm Desert, Calif., and Lisa Chamness of Isleton, Calif.; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; sister-in-law Darlene (Staebler) Johnson of Carroll; nieces Mary-Sue (Willis) Bartlett of Cedar Falls, Pam (Staebler) Vance of Council Bluffs and Penny (Staebler) Miller of Carroll; and nephews Bill and Ron Staebler, both of Ottumwa.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother; her first husband Richard Lee Staebler; brother Flyn Willis; three brothers-in-law, William Staebler, Jack Staebler and O.C. Critchfield; three sisters-in-law, Maryella Willis, Alice Jayne (Staebler) Critchfield and Wilma Staebler; and nephew Bob Staebler.
