SIGOURNEY — Dorothy Mae Kerber, 96, died Sept. 2, 2013, at the Sigourney Care Center.
She was born Aug. 25, 1917, to Nicholas F. and Anna Goeldner Hammes near Clear Creek. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School. On Sept. 10, 1940, she married Gordon Denver Kerber at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Clear Creek. They lived and farmed in the Clear Creek area all their married life. She was employed by Kingsbury Homes in Sigourney, Advance Ross Electronics in Washington, Burlington Ammunition Plant. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Clear Creek.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (John Cook) Kerber of Troy, Mich., Diane (Kelly) Denny of Sigourney; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, on Dec. 29, 1984; her parents; a son, Terrance Kerber; daughter Mary Kerber; granddaughter Kristen Denny; three sisters, Marie Heisdorffer, Clara Swanson, Viola Heisdorffer; seven brothers, Howard, Richard, Harold, Nicholas, Leroy, Leo and Lloyd Hammes.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Clear Creek.
Visitation will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. today at the church with a prayer service beginning at 5 p.m.
