MUSCATINE — Tony W. “Wes” Hunter, 88, of Muscatine, passed away May 2, 2013, at SunnyBrook Senior Living.
Tony Wesley Hunter was born on Oct. 3, 1924, in Atalissa, the son of Tony Wilson and Teressa (Staley) Hunter. In 1950, Wes was united in marriage to Janet Louella Fuller in Muscatine; they later divorced. Wes was later united in marriage to Tina Lou Gulley.
Wes proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of KAABA Shriners and a volunteer for the Sheriff’s patrol. Wes was an avid bowler and loved cars, electronics and tinkering in his garage.
Wes will be deeply missed by his three sons, Tim and his wife, Colleen, of Cedar Rapids, Chris of Ottumwa and Todd and his wife, Lisa, of Atalissa; and seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Justin, Brianna, Alexandra, Abby, Maddy and Lilly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cedar Valley Methodist Church in Atalissa. Interment will be in Overman Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.
Visitation for Wes will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.
