OTTUMWA – Bobby Gene Thomason II, 37, of 1305 Brentwood Dr., died at 3:28 p.m. May 4, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
He was born Dec. 29, 1975 in Chicago, Ill., to Bobby Gene and Linda Sue Throgmartin Thomason. He married Nicole Ayala on March 13, 2009.
A resident of Ottumwa his entire life, he graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1994. He had worked for the Ottumwa Courier and Ottumwa Regional Health Center before going back to school. Bobby was currently working at John Deere Ottumwa Works in a student work program. He was preparing to graduate at the end of the month from IHCC with honors in automation robotics and had accepted a position with Hartfiel Automation in Urbandale.
Bobby loved music playing lead guitar in several bands including “One Brick Shy.” He enjoyed drawing, playing computer games and fishing with his dad. He had also been a judge in a Lego League.
Surviving is his wife, Nicole; three sons, Maxwell Alexander Thomason of Ottumwa, Lucas Michael Thomason and Collin Parker Thomason, both at home; his parents, Bobby and Linda Thomason; grandparents, Delores and Jack Rusch and Delsie and Woodson Mills, all of Ottumwa; a sister, Stacy (Terrance) Tandy of Ottumwa; two nephews, Coty Ridgway of Carroll and Corey Ridgway of Ottumwa; two aunts, Donna Borowycz of Drakesville and Debra Young of Fairfield; two uncles, Larry Thomason and Gene Neubert, both of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Doug Thomason and Loranzy Throgmartin; five uncles, Ricky, Randy, Jim and Jerry Throgmartin and Steve Borowycz; a great grandmother, Irene Brewer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the family to be placed in trust for his children.
