OTTUMWA — James “Att” Morris, 82, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Ottumwa, died May 3, 2013.
He was born March 17, 1931 in Ottumwa, where he graduated from Ottumwa High School, married Marlene Mundt, and raised three daughters.
He worked for Northwestern Bell for 31 years as a troubleshooter and cable splicer. He was president of the local Communications Ottumwa Worker of America (CWA) union for eight years. He was a long-time member of the Ottumwa Elks Club. He was an avid huntsman and fisherman and headed up the Izaac Walton League for several years. He retired in 1983 and moved to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. He enjoyed traveling, camping with his grandchildren and gardening. His kind, gentle nature and winsome smile endeared him to all he met.
He is survived by his wife, Jerrie Stolp Morris; his daughters, Sandy (Norm) Wilkerson, Nancy Morris and Debbie Wollitz; three granddaughters, Jennifer (David) Doyle, Courtney and Paige Wilkerson; a great-granddaughter, Olyvia Wilkerson; and a great-grandson, Hunter Doyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chandas and Emma Morris; his wives, Marlene and Faye; and his sister, LuRose Leach.
There will be no funeral services and memorial services are pending. Remembrances may be made to The Comfort House in McAllen, Texas.
