OTTUMWA — Ruth Fowler Sisson, 89, of 219 Grandview, died May 9, 2013 at Hospice House.
She was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Birmingham, Ala., to Arthur and Grace Ellison Fowler.
She married James C. Sisson in 1941.
She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Ala., in 1941. She was a full-time mother while her children were at home. In 1968, she moved to Houston, Texas where she worked at Sweeney Jewelry Store for 20 years. She moved to Ottumwa in 1995. She loved to read, work in her yard and spend time with her dog. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a son: James C. (Rose) Sisson Jr. of Starkville, Miss.; a daughter, Lynda S. (Bob) Moreland of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Payson (Ellen) Moreland of Ottumwa, Kimberly (Justin) Berube of Clifton Park, N.Y., Beau (Gina) Sisson of Gilbert, Ariz., and John Sisson of Peoria, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack (Carol Ann) Fowler of Auburn, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Pelham and Bill Fowler; and a sister, Mary Soball.
In accordance with her wishes, no service is planned. A private family graveside will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wapello and Davis County or Heartland Humane Society.
