Fara Cremer

AGENCY – P. Fara Cremer, 90, formerly of Agency, died at 3:45 a.m. May 14, 2013 at Vista Woods Care Center.

She was born February 5, 1923 in Ottumwa to Moss Earl and Lena Fern McLean Cremer.

Fara worked 35 years for Ideal Ready Mix Co. Inc. where she was an original stock holder and a corporate officer. She retired from Ideal Ready Mix in 1982. Fara was also an original stock holder for Wapello County Grain Inc.

She was a member of Agency United Methodist Church. Fara started her community service while on the Agency City Council. She was instrumental in converting a former restaurant into a community center and also helped to raise money to build low-income housing in Agency in 1978; she served as president for Agency City Housing Authority, Inc. for many years. She delivered meals from the Agency church to shut-ins while in her 80’s herself. She served and volunteered for many organizations including the Wapello County Historical Society, Wapello Rural Water, Cardinal Community School Board, Chief Wapello Memorial Park, Agency Area Community Center, Sunnyslope Nursing Home, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the National Association of Secretaries.

Surviving are three brothers, Dean and Mec Cremer both of Ottumwa, Charles “Chod” Cremer of Agency; two sisters, Myrna Rullman of Agency and Margret “Muggs” Jean Guenther of Santa Fe Springs, CA; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Richard, Roy and Duard Cremer and a sister, Madelyn Moss Dart.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Agency United Methodist Church with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agency United Methodist Church or Chief Wapello Association.
