ALBIA — Matthew Allan Vaughan, 16, of Albia, went to be with the Lord and his loved ones June 11, 2013, at his home in Albia.

Matthew was born March 14, 1997, to Johnathon and Deborah Vaughan in Ottumwa. He was a sophomore at Albia Community High School and was moving to Prairie du Chien, Wis., to finish school and live with his mom. Matthew was on the Albia tennis team and was active in the school health and physical fitness programs. He loved computers and was interested in engineering and computer design. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and also making “You’re Probably Wondering” videos.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Johnathon Vaughan of Albia and Deborah Vaughan of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; a brother, Westley Vaughan of Ottumwa; favorite aunties, Dorothy “Dotty” Teague and Renita Vaughan; two aunts, Niya Cross and Vichelle Frazier; and six uncles, Harold, Herbert, Richie and Eddie Hollander, James Vaughan and Bob Handley. Matthew was also survived by several cousins and friends.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Sr. and Joyce Vaughan and Lewis C. and Loretta Hollander.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with visitation one hour prior to the service at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; Pastor John Van Weelden officiating. Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery in Albia.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Tharp Funeral Home with Matthew’s family present throughout the day and evening.
