FAIRFIELD — Robert A. Lawson, 87, of Fairfield, passed away Aug. 20, 2013, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
Robert was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Birmingham to Mr. and Mrs. Lawson. He married Betty Mae Louth Feb. 20, 1944, in Fairfield. She passed away Jan. 14, 2010.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bob retired from Loudens Co. after 45 years. He managed Loudens Depot Credit Union for 30 years. He was a member of the Eagles Club and VFW. He enjoyed square dancing and also worked with Helping Hands at First Christian Church. He loved spending time with family and friends. He knew and loved so many people, and he will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by one daughter, Carmalee (Kim) Manary of Conroe, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Cathy Lawson of Fairfield; three grandsons, Jacob, Jordan, Ethan Lawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Mae; one son, Robert A. Lawson Jr.; one daughter, Cindy Lou Lawson; and also his nine siblings.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ; Pastor Art Sathoff officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, and a luncheon will follow at the Eagles.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.
Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ or to the Helping Hands Ministry at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Fairfield.
