ALBIA — Janet May Frits, 71, of Albia, passed away Sept. 7, 2013, under the care of Monroe County Hospice at Monroe Care Center in Albia, surrounded by her family.
Janet was born July 19, 1942, to Richard and Ireta (Martin) Frits in Cedar Rapids. She married Raymond Hopkins in October 1960; they later divorced.
Janet was a 1960 graduate of Albia High School. She worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing for a number of years before graduating from Indian Hills Community College in 1978. She was a medical records technician at Monroe County Hospital for 25 years.
Janet is survived by her mother, Ireta Frits of Albia; two daughters, Marcia (Dan) Celania of Ottumwa and Ruth (Richard) James of Albia; five grandchildren, Leah and Bryan Raskie of Albia, Danielle (D.J.) Huffman, Ian (Jennifer) Celania of Ottumwa and Chris Celania of Ames; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Huffman and Hannah Celania; and a sister, Betty Stewart of Albia.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard, who died in World War II; and a brother-in-law, James Stewart.
Janet was a loving mother, and her family and pets meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed by them all.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; with Pastor Nancy Reed officiating. Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today at Tharp Funeral Home; with Janet’s family present from 6-8 p.m.
