OTTUMWA — Madeline E. Shacklett, 93, of 102 W. Finley Ave., died at 12:40 p.m. September 9, 2013, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born March 2, 1920, in Gorin, Mo., to Deck Edgar and Florence Elizabeth Smith Rickeberg. She married Jacob Kendall Shacklett on October 7, 1944, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1967.
A resident of Ottumwa since 1951, Madeline had worked at Lin-Den Company from 1963 until its closing in 1984. She then worked as a secretary for True, Inc. from 1985 until it closed in 1999.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Ottumwa Business and Professional Women.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Johnson of Kansas City, Kan., and Judy (David) Rhynas of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, James (Shannon) Rhynas, Amanda (Jeremy) Swafford, Kyle (Stacey) Amos and Kelly (Brian) Allen; four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Ryder, Ella and Kaylie; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Keith Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Dexter and Dorothy Rickeberg and her parents.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Disburg officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation will be open at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Hogs 4 Dogs.
