Audrey Harbour, 89, Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — Audrey Pauline Harbour, 89, formerly of 910 W. Second, went home to be with her Savior at 1:10 a.m. Feb. 21, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Jayson Humble, in rural Batavia.

She was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Floris to William Roy and Lola Frances Post Saner. She married Gilbert Bailey on Nov. 4, 1940. He died March 25, 1955. She later married Dwight Harbour on Dec. 19, 1956. He died Nov. 1, 1989.

As a member of Christ’s Church in Ottumwa, she loved singing the old gospel hymns and had trusted in the Lord Jesus. She was employed by Standard Kollsman, Langley Optical and worked from 1973-84 for John Deere Ottumwa Works, where she retired.

She was a wonderful mother not only to her own children, but many others. To know her was to love her. She enjoyed Bingo, cards, fishing and hunting mushrooms and was a good seamstress. She gave much time and energy to Soap Creek Rebels Saddle Club as a founding member.

Left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Helen (Jerry) Black of Bloomfield, Betty (David) Swainey of Chariton, Susan Garrett of Ottumwa, Karen (Jayson) Humble of Batavia, Barb (Rocky) Lord of Ottumwa; three sons, Jack (Cora) Bailey and Don (Cindy) Bailey, both of Arizona, and Jerry (Charlene) Harbour of Bloomfield; two sisters, Lavelle (Bill) Peede of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Carol (Jerry) Black of Kirksville, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a special grandson, Travis Harbour, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Christ’s Church with Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

The family wishes to thank Terry Dovico and Judy Nichols for their kind and loving assistance through Audrey’s last days. All Hospice staff was very much appreciated.
