Frankie Schaub, 90, Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — Frankie Pearl Dressendofer Beatty Schaub, 90, of Fairfield, was taken by her Lord and Savior to join him in Heaven on Oct. 8, 2012.

She was born April 7, 1922, to Charles and Mae Sheehan Dressendofer near Claudell, N.M. Among the last of the pioneers, Frankie was born on land homesteaded by her father when New Mexico became a state in 1912, and she was the 69th birth registered in Roosevelt County, N.M.

Her family came to Iowa in 1930 and lived several places in southeastern Iowa. After graduating from Milton High School in 1940, Frankie attended Parsons College, where she earned her teaching certificate. For the next five years, she taught at Vega School southeast of Lockridge, the North Lebanon School and finished her teaching career in Birmingham in 1945.

Later in 1945, Frankie married Guylan “Bud” Beatty and began her clerical career as a bookkeeper and receptionist and then, prior to her first retirement, was office assistant at Production Credit Association for 15 years. The next 10 years she worked part time at Young Monument and Harwood Insurance.

Frankie was so involved in her community. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Fairfield Women’s Club, Business and Professional Women (was 1992 Woman of the Year), Carnegie Museum Board, Jefferson and Van Buren County Historical Societies, current president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and co-president of Fairfield Literature Club.

On Nov. 3, 2006, Frankie married the love of her life, Rich Schaub, and they lived very happily in their little cottage on South Second Street. He survives along with cousins and many friends.

In addition to her first husband, Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and a 9-year-old sister, Thelma.

A celebration of Frankie’s life will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church; with Pastor Art Sathoff officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Family will greet friends from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Carnegie Museum Foundation. Cards and memorials may be sent to Rich Schaub at 403 S. Second Street, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
