OTTUMWA — David L. “Dave” Heller, 56, of 415 Gara, died at 8:45 a.m. April 22, 2013 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born July 23, 1956 in Ottumwa to Willard “W.H.” and Leta Foy Heller.
Dave had served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a boiler technician, serving aboard a battleship and an aircraft carrier.
He loved animals, especially Duffy, Kilo and Max. He also loved motorcycles.
Surviving is a brother, Monte (Linda) Heller of Ottumwa; a sister, Sandi (Ronald) Kneedler of Creston; a half-brother, Bob (Phyllis) Heller of Rapid City, S.D.; a nephew, T.J. (Kelly) Heller; a niece, Jennifer (Eric) Johnston; five great-nieces and nephews; special cousins and several special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. this evening.
His body will be cremated following the visitation.
Private graveside services and inurnment will be at Ottumwa Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
