Tammy Kay Guffey, 52, of 107 S. 5th, died at 3:25 a.m. January 18, 2013 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born April 2, 1960 in Des Moines to William and Beulah Byers. Barbour. She married Brian Guffey in August, 1997.
Tammy earned her degree in geriatric nursing from Indian Hills Community College and she had worked at Good Samaritan in Ottumwa for 15 years, and had worked for one year at Oakwood Nursing & Rehab in Albia. She had lived in Bloomfield and tended bar for several years.
Tammy was a member of the Evangelical Church of Oskaloosa, and had been a member of the Jaycees.
Surviving is her husband, Brian; three sons, Tony (Tabitha) Hinton of Oskaloosa, Dustin (Nichole) Hinton of Cedar Rapids and Nathan (fiancée Shelby) Hinton of Fremont; seven grandchildren, Bronson, Amara, Keira, Kiefer, Kealah, Darius and Keo; her mother, Beulah Hoeft of Des Moines; her father, William Barbour of Marshalltown; two brothers, John Barbour and Tom Barbour both of Des Moines; a sister, Cindy (Eric) Van Horn of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Pete Hoeft; an infant brother and grandparents.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor David Barner officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Employee Assistance Fund or the Good Samaritan Activity Fund.
