Helen M. Irven, 91 of Bloomfield, died Feb. 2, 2013, at Blair House in Burlington.
She was born June 21, 1921, in New Boston, Ill., to Eugene and Geneva Willits Carlson. She married Marcus C. “Mike” Irven Nov. 28, 1943, in New Boston. He preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1990.
Helen was a homemaker and an elementary school cook in Bloomfield. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith DeFord of Cedar Rapids, Connie Jo (Mike) Coulter of Centerville and Jan (Bill) Daft of Burlington; a son, Gary (Jamie) Irven of Peoria, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Thomas (Kelly) Coulter of Ottumwa, Charles (Erika) Coulter of Council Bluffs, Steven (Natalie) DeFord and Camy DeFord of Cedar Rapids, Marcus Irven of Austin, Texas, Jennifer (Steven) Weers of Peoria, Ill., Stephani Daft of Los Angeles, and Christina, Cameron and Tricia Daft of Burlington; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Coulter, Blake, Tyler and Bryan Coulter, Stevie and Kaylee DeFord, Jake and Katee Schiel and Emily and Zachary Weers; a sister, Treva (Daryl) Steinbeck of Owensborough, Ky.; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jeff and Carla Francis and Megan, Lezlie and families.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Robert, Rex and Donald Dean; and a son-in-law, Harry DeFord.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bloomfield United Methodist Church; with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will be open at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Wagler Funeral Home with family present from 5-7 p.m. Eastern Star services will follow the visitation at 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
