OTTUMWA — Russell L. Hunt, 88, of 173 E. Rochester died at 12:25 a.m. November 16, 2013 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born October 14, 1925 in Ottumwa to Carl L. and Bessie H. Hughy Hunt. He married Maxine Dunivin June 8, 1963 in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1992.
Russell served in World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He also served in the U.S. Navy and for 17 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1964. After retiring from the military he worked as a Manufacturing Engineer in Douglas, CA and then as a Tool Designer Engineer for Rohor Industries in California retiring in 1990.
He returned to Ottumwa in 1991 and has been a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Surviving is a daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Cravens of Rock Island, IL; a son, Shawn (Sarah) Hunt of Loveland, CO; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Coleen Allen of Ottumwa; 2 brothers, Bill (Agnes) Hunt of Arkansas and Jim (Tanya) Hunt of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rachel Johnston and a brother, Richard Hunt.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside memorial services and inurnment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eldon Cemetery with Pastor Ed Matthews officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson #3 American Legion.
Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.
