He was born July 5, 1926 in Ottumwa to George and Pearl Cox Sigman. He married Joanne Chisman January 11, 1952.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1944, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an employee of John Deere Ottumwa Works for thirty-nine and half years, retiring in 1983. He was a life member of BPO Elks Lodge #347, O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and a social member of Knights of Columbus Council #888.
Surviving are his wife Joanne; a daughter Jan (Rick) Stevens of Ottumwa; two sons Dennis Sigman of Urbandale and Phil Sigman of Andalusia, IL; three grandchildren, Natalie (Brad McCloskey) Stevens, Samantha (Nick) Ulin and Blake Stevens; a great granddaughter, Carigan Joanne McCloskey; a sister-in-law, Roberta Sigman of Ottumwa and a brother-in-law, Andy Jansen of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Max Andrew Sigman; a brother, Gene Sigman; and two sisters, Shirley Jansen and Louise Sigman.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment were held Monday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Gary Brooks officiating.
