Gracie Mae Wood, 92, of Blakesburg, went to be with her Lord March 11, 2013.
She was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Farson to John Edgar and Grace Craft Jaster. On July 20, 1941, she married James Walter “Jim” Wood in Lancaster, Mo.
Gracie and Jim lived and farmed near Blakesburg and had three children, Michael Walter (Marietta) Wood of Marshalltown, James Donald (Tootsie) Wood of Florida and Robert Eugene “Bob” (Marlene Gardner) of Melrose. They have 11 grandchildren, Sean Kearney, Lucas Kane, Elijah Kane, Lane Nelson, Madison Krull, Jacob Wood, Natalie Wood, Zach Krull, Drew Nelson, Isaac Wood and Isabel Wood.
Gracie’s joy in life was her family. She especially loved participating in family activities and keeping in touch on the phone and through letter writing. She faithfully remembered every child and grandchild, sending cards to each on every holiday and their birthday. She also loved watching and feeding birds.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and three sisters, Leota Jaster, Lorena Newell and Francis Ritter.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Knedler Funeral Home in Blakesburg; with Rev. Jim Matheney officiating. Burial will be in Blakesburg Cemetery.
Open visitation begins 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5-6:30 p.m.
