ALBIA — Dorothy Isabelle Caster, 97, of Albia, died on Jan. 11, 2014, at the Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia.
She was born on March 6, 1916, to Max and Jessie (Scott) Yohe.
Dorothy graduated from Albia High School, class of 1934. She then attended AIB College. She married James C. Clester on April 13, 1941, in Trenton, Mo. They later divorced. She later married Leo Caster on July 5, 1947, in Albia. She was a secretary of John Abegglen Law Office for one year, Alfred Pabst Law Office for two years, Mabry & Pabst Law Office for one year, deputy clerk of district court from 1943-47, and then she worked as a secretary for Success Barber and Beauty Supply in Moravia for 27 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, photography and collecting.
She is survived by her husband, Leo of Albia; sons, Ron (Diane) Clester of Albia, Dennis Caster and special friend Charlotte Jennings of Osceola; siblings, Bob Yohe of Albia, Virginia Bernstein of Norwalk; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, James Clester.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia; Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.
Visitation with the family present will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Monroe County Hospice.
