OTTUMWA — Ronald L Clark, 64, of Ottumwa, passed away peacefully at 9:20 p.m. January 14, 2014, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center surrounded by his family.
He was born March 1, 1949, in Ottumwa to Floyd and Betty Best Clark. He married Vickie J. Beeson on December 22, 1971. From that union two children were born. She preceded him in death on October 26, 1985. He later married Sally Johnson on July 11, 1998.
He served in the U.S. Army for six years during the Vietnam Conflict. He then worked at Loudens in Fairfield for 27 years. He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, Bingo and spending time with his family.
Ronald is survived by his devoted wife, Sally; a son, Aaron (Sara) Clark of Ottumwa; a daughter, Jill (Sam) Archer of Ottumwa; a stepson, Tony Johnson of Ankeny; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Richard Crowe of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Austin Archer, Baylee Archer and Dylan Clark, all of Ottumwa; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Kathy) Clark Bladensburg, Danny Clark of Swedesburg.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd; a stepdaughter, Angie Sampson; and a sister-in-law, Sue Clark.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Brooks officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ron’s grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
