Patricia Mino

OTTUMWA — Patricia Ann Janssen Mino, 82, of Ledyard, died Jan. 20, 2014, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.

The daughter of Henry and Anna (Stroebel) Janssen, she was born Sept. 12, 1931, in rural Bancroft. Pat moved with her family to Grant Township in 1943 and lived there until she graduated from Grant Consolidated School in 1949. Pat attended Waldorf College and graduated with a degree in teaching. She taught for two years in Forest City and then returned to rural Ledyard to teach at Swea City School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Mankato State University in 1970.

In 1953, Pat married Donald Mino, and the couple made their home in rural Ledyard. Together they had five children. Pat taught in the Forest City, Grant Township, Swea City and North Kossuth school systems and retired in 1995 after teaching for more than 32 years.

She was an active member of Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church of Ledyard, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was also active in the community with activities, including among others the Federated Women’s Club, Grant Alumni Reunions, daffodil sales for the American Cancer Society and Swea City Library Board.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Mino; children, Kendall Mino (Pam Kick, fiancée) of rural Ledyard, Kristi Meyers (Bob) of Ottumwa, Brenda Ringgenberg (Ray) of Ames, Brian Mino (Lisa) of Ashton and Susan Mino Cartagena of Chicago; 10 grandchildren, Kelsey Mino, Skyler Mino, Stephanie (Ben Boroski, fiancé) Meyers, Ryan (Emily) Meyers, Jill (Geoff) Meyer, Theodore Ringgenberg, Taylor Ringgenberg, Ethan Mino, Isabella Cartagena, Sevilla Cartagena; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Jaxson, Quintin, Grayson, Kinley; two sisters, Arlene Winch and Joyce Anderson; and one brother, George Janssen.

She is preceded in death by her father, Henry Janssen; mother, Anna Johnson; stepfather, Myrle Johnson; and brother Jim Johnson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church, Ledyard; Pastor Tim Diehl officiating. Interment will be at Harrison Township Cemetery, Swea City.

Visitation was held Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Swea City.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the following charities: Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church of Ledyard, Swea City Library, American Cancer Society or United Hands Hospice of Blue Earth.
