OTTUMWA — Robert K. Shaw, 71, of Ottumwa, stepped into his heavenly Father’s arms at 2:45 a.m. January 26, 2014, at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center, and his eyes and ears were opened and his tongue was loosed.
He was born January 18, 1943, in Ottumwa to Lawrence Edward and Lulu Bell Jeffries Shaw.
Robert had been an employee of Tenco.
Surviving are two brothers, Lawrence E. “Bud” Shaw Jr. and James E. Shaw; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joan Skelton; four brothers, infant Junior Shaw, Fred Shaw, William D. Shaw and Bussey Haggard. Bob had a wonderful reunion with his half sister, Jackie Lampe, who lovingly raised him and three brothers from their first day of life. She lavished love and care on all of her eight half brothers and a sister, but she had a special heart for Bob.
Born blind and deaf, he saw and heard more than anyone knew. He was dearly loved and cared for by the Ridgewood staff and Care Initiatives Hospice during the last few months of his life.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Shaul Cemetery with Pastor John Cooper officiating.
Memorials may be made to Care Initiatives Hospice.
Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
