HEDRICK — William “Bill” Lee Bradshaw, 56, of Hedrick, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa after a long battle with scleroderma.
He was born in Ottumwa on February 5, 1957, to William Frederick and Mary Louise (Curtis) Bradshaw. Bill graduated from Hedrick High School in 1975 and was married to Mona Ling on August 8, 1981, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In high school, Bill worked for Ward Morgan as a carpenter and later Wausau Homes as a builder. He became a licensed electrician and worked for Acme Electric for a number of years. With his carpentry skills, Bill designed and supervised the construction of a new home for his parents and also for his family’s home, where they currently reside.
Bill was a student of American history; he loved to visit Washington, D.C., historical sites and anything related to World Wars. His love for the outdoors took him to many national parks, including Yellowstone, his favorite destination.
Bill enjoyed Coca-Cola, The Big Bang Theory and always being there for his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mona of Hedrick; his son, Marc (Chelsea) Bradshaw of Ankeny; his daughter, Krystin Bradshaw of Des Moines; and his grandbunny, Mushu. He is also survived by his parents, William and Mary Bradshaw of Hedrick; four sisters, Anne (Mike) Brain of Cedar Rapids, Dianne Schuttlefield of Ottumwa, Trish (Randy) Abel of Hedrick and Carol (Bryan) Litscher of West Des Moines; and a brother, Kevin (Molly) Bradshaw of Coralville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Uncle Harold Curtis; his grandparents and his beloved pets, Seemoor the duck and Duke the dog.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
