BLAKESBURG — Theda M. VanDePol, 87, died January 24, 2014, at her home of her daughters.
She was born October 21, 1926, in Eddyville, Iowa, to Charley and Henrietta Reed Allison. She married Melvin VanDePol on June 3, 1944. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1993.
She and her husband farmed together in rural Blakesburg. Theda began a long career of 46 years with H & R Block as clerical, then as owner of the franchise.
Surviving are two sons, Charles (Carolyn) VanDePol of Blakesburg and Kenneth (Nancy) VanDePol of King City, Ill.; two daughters, Pam (Delbert) Peterson of Cameron, Mo., and Elaine McDonough of Ft. Atkinson, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson; a sister, Alice Evans; and a brother, Bill Allison.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Blakesburg Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
