---- — OTTUMWA — Randy Joe McElfish, 54, died at 2:53 a.m. May 4, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born May 28, 1958 in Ottumwa to Bill and Marilyn LaRue McElfish. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he had served in the U.S. Navy. He had been an employee for 19 years at Falco in Fairfield and for six years at Tenco Industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Kevin (Angela) McElfish and Brice McElfish, both of Mason City; and three daughters, Misty (Cory) Grade of Mason City, Randi (Kyle) and Lorinda McElfish, both of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, MacKenzie, Dayton, Joseph and Carter; two honorary sons, Aaron (Natalie) Dye of Brighton and Joshua (Angie) Dye of Douds; his mother, Marilyn McElfish of Ottumwa; his sister, Kristine Laudermilch of Oskaloosa and considered many others family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill McElfish; and his brother, Billy Dean McElfish.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.
