OTTUMWA — Christopher Dean Guiter, 51, of Ottumwa, died at 6:57 p.m. May 7, 2013 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
He was born Aug. 9, 1961 in Ottumwa to Loren and Nancy Jane Townsend Guiter.
He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1980 and of Indian Hills Community College. He was engaged in farming all of his life, was a self employed carpenter, owned and operated his own trucking company, had worked at Wormhoudt Lumber and Farm Service.
He was a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters, Local #33.
Surviving are four brothers and one sister, Frederick (Carol) Guiter of Batavia, Guy Guiter of Ottumwa, Katherine (Kermit) Kirchhoff of Kansas City, Kan., Tom (Sherri) Guiter of Odessa, Texas and Terry (Barb) Guiter of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews; his girlfriend, Cathy Copeland of Ottumwa; and his best buddy, Landon Dill of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Kevin Palmer officiating. Inurnment will be in Burns Cemetery on the Eddyville road.
Visitation with the family present will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
