---- — WEST DES MOINES — Bruce Alan Wedeking, 53, of West Des Moines, died July 28, 2013, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born Aug. 29, 1959, in Charles City, son of Neal and Arlene (Teeple) Wedeking. He was baptized, confirmed and served as an elder at Unity Presbyterian Church in rural Clarksville. Bruce graduated from Clarksville High School in 1977 and continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion.

Bruce was united in marriage to Caron Harbour June 1, 1991, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. He was employed at the Butler County Economic Development office for a number of years and continued working a similar job in Cedar Falls following their marriage. Most recently, Bruce was employed in software design and management for AT&T before being injured and retiring.

As one of Bruce’s final wishes, he was able to be a tissue donor through the Iowa Donor Network.

He is survived by his wife, Caron of West Des Moines and formerly of Ottumwa; his parents, Neal and Arlene Wedeking of Clarksville; two brothers, John (Peg) Wedeking of Ankeny and Jim (Tammy) Wedeking of Waverly; one sister, Susan (Ed) Heine of Clarksville; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Edgington of West Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Ben Edgington.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Unity Presbyterian Church with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
