OTTUMWA – Brenda Jean Rupe, 57, of 10232 River Road, died August 16, 2013, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born November 23, 1955, in Iowa City, the daughter of Kenneth Thomas and Frances Katherine O’Brien Coghlan. She married Gerald Rupe June 15, 1974.
A graduate of Cardinal High School in 1974, Brenda had worked 15 years for Excel and for the past seven years for Wapello County Public Health.
She had been a member of St. Mary of the Visitation and Catholic Daughters of Americas. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald; two sons, William Dean Rupe of Ottumwa and Kenneth Lee (Chasity) Rupe of Agency; two daughters, Celina Jean Rupe and Faith Marie Rupe, both of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Brandon Lee Rupe, Gerald L. Rupe, Shaelyn P. Rupe, Owen Lee Rupe and Isabella Jean Rupe; a sister, Vicky (Bob) Kildow; a brother, Steve Richards; four stepbrothers, Richard Glandon, Bill Hart, Dave (Tina) Hart and Jimmy Hart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Lukus Rupe.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Fiedler officiating.
Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
