KEOSAUQUA — Melvia Lee Peck, 85, of Keosauqua and formerly of Milton, died Aug. 18, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society – Keosauqua.
She was born June 29, 1928, in Jefferson County to Anthony and Beulah Burry Tonkinson. She married Francis Dale Peck May 31, 1948, in Fairfield. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1975. Melvia was a homemaker and a cook. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Bloomfield.
She is survived by two sons, Edward (Helen) Peck of Ottumwa and Donald Peck of Eldon; four daughters, Debra (Henry) Norton of Oskaloosa, Pamela Lawson of Bloomfield, Karen (Jeff) Himes of Douds, and Bonnie (Shannon) Sample of Milton; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Katherine Disney of Sarasota, Fla., Wilma Hootman of Fairfield, Vivian Beckett of Muscatine and Lola Krichener of Stockport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bob Tonkinson; and two sisters, Ruth Countryman and Mary Garrison.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; Pastor DeWayne Lawson officiating. Burial will be at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
A memorial has been established to Ottumwa Good Samaritan Society Hospice.
