Christine Knoebel was born on February 9, 1918, in Charleston, Ill., the daughter of Thomas and Bertie Amyx. She married Howard W. For many years she did volunteer work at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill., and Sarah Bush Memorial Hospital in Mattoon, Ill. She was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful clothes and sewing projects, but her passion was quilting and playing the piano. She created numerous memorable quilts for family and charitable organizations. Christine loved to read, watch movies, study birds and never was very interested in television. She loved kittens and all her life had a bird and doll collection. Traveling stateside and abroad was very important to her and she was fortunate enough to do that extensively.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis Counties, 927 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, Iowa.
