OTTUMWA — Elva Lou Warner, 85, of 1335 N. Elm St., passed to her home in heaven at 9:29 p.m. August 24, 2013, at home.
Elva Lou was born December 13, 1927, in What Cheer to Frank and Marguerite Jacobs Buckley.
A 1946 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she loved her high school years, having been chosen as a cheerleader and homecoming queen.
She enjoyed working in ladies apparel and owned and operated a children’s clothing store in Ankeny. She loved traveling with her husband, Jack, and spent many years as snowbirds in Florida and visiting relatives in California. She was an avid bowler.
Elva Lou was a member of Davis St. Christian Church where she sang in the choir, was active in the women’s club and social activities of the church.
She married Jack Warner on October 31, 1948, and to this union was born two sons, Gary (Kate) Warner of Mt. Pleasant and Ronald (Karen) Warner of Madrid; five grandchildren, Jason (Lacey) Warner, Neil Warner, Allison Rumbaugh, Adam Warner and Damian Warner; six great-grandchildren, April, Jacob and Drake Warner, Olivia, Cole and Cody Rumbaugh; a brother-in-law, Melvin Locke of California; two sisters-in-law, Mary Buckley of Newton and Patty Buckley of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dianna Kay Warner; a sister, Mildred Locke; two brothers, Roger and Max Buckley.
Her body has been cremated.
A celebration of life service will be held at Davis Street Christian Church at a later date.
Visitation with the family present will be at Reece Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
