---- — CANTRIL — Frances D. Overstreet, 101, formerly of rural Cantril, died at 8 p.m. Aug. 31, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society—Van Buren, Keosauqua.

She was born Jan. 15, 1912, near Media, Ill., to Charles and Bessie Gibb Rankin and married C. LaVerne “Pete” Overstreet Sept. 1, 1931, in Aledo, Ill. He died April 13, 1978.

Frances graduated from Roseville, Ill., High School. She and Pete farmed near Raritan, Ill., until moving to their farm southwest of Cantril in 1946. Frances was an active farm homemaker and helper for her husband. She entered Good Samaritan Society—Van Buren March 13, 2013.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Milton and Twin City Chapter No. 258, Order of Eastern Star, Douds, and a charter member of the Happy Hour Club, rural Cantril.

Surviving are two sons, Rex Overstreet (Jean) of Stockport and Byron Overstreet (Doris) of Viola, Ill.; a daughter, Dolores Hannam (Bernard) of Newport Beach, Calif.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Burton, Ronald and Eugene “Potter” Overstreet; a daughter, Donna Augspurger; two grandchildren, Rollie Overstreet and Cheryl Augspurger; a brother, Dale Rankin; and three sisters, Mildred Whitaker, Madeline Stice and Anna Mae Wagner.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua; Rev. Tiffany Austin Williams, a stepgreat-granddaughter, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Wednesday. An Eastern Star Service by Twin City Chapter 258, Douds, will be at 6 p.m., followed by family visitation until 7:30 p.m.

Memorials to Maple Grove Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 2963 Catalpa St., Newport Beach, Calif., 92660.
