---- — OTTUMWA — Keith E. Pearson, 81, of 16195 Eddyville Road, passed peacefully at home with family at his side at 7:45 p.m. September 8, 2013, at his home.

He was born November 17, 1931, in Ottumwa to Everett and Ella Marie Dunning Pearson. He married Beulah O. Barnhill on November 27, 1949. They later divorced.

Keith served in the 15th Army Infantry in Korea.

He worked for Nash Finch and for Burlington Truck Lines. He owned and operated Pearson Construction. He also farmed and was involved with his grandchildren’s 4-H projects.

Keith was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved his deer and pheasant hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion, Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as manager for Babe Ruth baseball for many years.

Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda Prasch of Blakesburg; two sons, Ron (Nancy) Pearson of Algona and Roger (Heather) Pearson of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Jacob Pearson, Bo Pearson, Clint (Heidi) Pearson, Daniel (Cory) Prasch and Angela (Steve) Anglesey; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette (Jack) Truman and Sandra (William) Thompson, both of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwain “Smiley” Pearson; two half sisters, Helen Fletcher and Donna Rowe.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis Counties, 927 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
