OTTUMWA — Shirley Ann “Sadie” Larson, 84, of 137 Lillian St., died at 5:12 p.m. September 10, 2013, at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born February 5, 1929, in Ottumwa to Paul and Vivian Nation Caster. She married Donald K. “Swede” Larson on February 4, 1949.
Shirley was a graduate of Ottumwa High School. She worked for 18 years in food service for the Ottumwa Community Schools. She started food service at Stuart School and retired in 1989 managing the food service at the high school.
She attended Ottumwa Baptist Temple.
Surviving are her husband, Don; her children, Mike (Jackie) Larson of Conroe, Texas, Janet (Denny) Cason of Albia and Greg (Cindy) Larson of McCook, Neb.; seven grandsons, Aaron (Shawna) Larson, Eric (April) Larson, Nathan (Nicole) Larson, Colton Cason, Landon Cason, Austin Larson and Connor Larson; four great-grandsons, William, Carter, Rylan and Caden; three sisters, Donna Reed, June (Gib) Harding and Selma “Corky” (George) Shaw, all of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepmother, Ruthe Caster.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or to the Indian Hills Community College Foundation.
