---- — LOCKRIDGE — Larry E. McKeehan, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, and formerly of Lockridge, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at his home in Mt. Pleasant after a battle with lung cancer.
Larry was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Evett and Verna Leazer McKeehan. He graduated from Stockport High School in 1957. Larry was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Wright May 20, 1967, at the Little Brown Church.
Larry worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield for 11 years, then joined his father in construction and later joined Wiley and Sons Building Contractors, retiring after 18 years. Larry was always there to help friends with carpentry projects. He enjoyed talking with friends, gardening, model airplanes and experiencing new things. Since his retirement, they enjoyed several years of wintering in the South. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an active member of the Lockridge Lions Club for 36 years, where he received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann of Mt. Pleasant; his children, Larry K. (Denise) McKeehan of Chicago and Lanette (Patrick) Hillman of Amman, Jordon; his grandchildren, Katrina, Mitchell (Vonne), Nicole, Marshall (Emily), Samantha, Major, Miles and Jake; two great-grandchildren, Preston and Kysa; and two sisters, Darlene Roberts of Agency and Pauline Spees of Birmingham.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant; with Revs. Regan Stoops and Earl Swigart officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
