Lawrence D. Carr, 65, of rural Douds, died Nov. 3, 2012, at home.
He was born April 28, 1947, in Ottumwa to Stephen and Melva Pearson Carr. Lawrence graduated from Van Buren High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action. He had worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield and John Deere in Ottumwa and retired from Pinkerton Security Co. as a guard at Meritor Corp., Fairfield. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are a brother, Carl Carr of Douds; two sisters, Linda Rozendaal (Clarence) of Oskaloosa and Phyllis Hendricks (George) of Bonaparte; and nieces and nephews.
He was preced in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Carol Carr.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds; with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds. Military rites will be by John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion, Douds.
Visitation was held Monday.
