BATAVIA — Vera Willhoit, 95, formerly of Batavia, died at 8:54 a.m. November 14, 2013, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
She was born August 20, 1918, in Dow City, Iowa, to Russell and Helen Josephine Blakely Bentley. She married Max Willhoit April 13, 1941, in Ames. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2008.
She had been an employee of Hickory House/Edd the Florist. She was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church and had been member of Arbor Vitae Chapter #327 Order of Eastern Star in Batavia and Batavia TTT. She had also been involved in PTA and served as a 4-H leader.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice (Bill) Millhouser of Mansfield, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Denise Willhoit of Ollie; three grandchildren, Shane (Audra) Millhouser, Todd (Barbara) Willhoit and Diane (Dave) Siebert; six great-grandchildren, Blake and Skylar Millhouser, Eliza and Jack Willhoit and Myron and Max Siebert; a brother, Allan (Evelyn) Bentley of Ames and sister-in-law Helen Doak of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Willhoit; and two sisters, Doris Cousin and Donna Armburg.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Harlan “Frosty” VanVoorst officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Visitation is open after 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Autism Society.
