ALBIA — Frances Dorothy Kipfer, 87, of Albia, passed away Sept. 20, 2013, under the care of Monroe County Hospice at Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Frances was born Feb. 20, 1926, to Tony and Ramona (Buyon) Kauzlarich in Chariton. She married LuVerne D. Kipfer Jan. 31, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. To this union, a son, David, was born. LuVerne preceded Frances in death July 15, 1960.
Frances graduated from Albia High School. She worked at McLellan’s Dime Store, Chebuhar Grocery Store, Spurgeon’s Clothing Store, the Albia Sale Barn as a cook in the kitchen and Duncan’s Bookstore.
Frances was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Albia. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, cooking and gardening. She was a very loving and caring person who took care of her parents and loved spending time with her son and nieces and nephews.
Frances is survived by a son, David Kipfer of Albia; two sisters, Helen Woodward of Moline, Ill., and Gloria (Steve) Crall of Albia; two brothers, John Kauzlarich of Baltimore, Md., and Rudy (Gertrude) Kauzlarich of Colona, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and her many friends she made during this life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents, Tony and Ramona; four brothers, Joe, Emil, Richard and Paul Kauzlarich; four sisters, Eva, Mary Sulentic, Stephana Deal and Catherine; two half brothers, Eddie and Charles Kauzlarich; and a half sister, Regina Kauzlarich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia; Fr. Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S., officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia.
Visitation with the family present will be 2-8 p.m. today at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. A rosary will be led by St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society at 4 p.m. with a Christian wake service beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
