---- — ALBIA — Violet Elizabeth Inman, 87, of Albia, passed away Sept. 27, 2013, under the care of Monroe County Hospice at the Monroe Care Center in Albia.

Violet was born Nov. 23, 1925, to Bert and Lulu (Anderson) Carr in Atlantic. She married Earl Alfred Inman Jan. 1, 1947, in Marne. To this union, four children were born, Dennis, Marlene, Charles and Marilyn. They shared 53 years of marriage before Earl’s passing in 2000.

Violet was a loving mother, housewife, dedicated worker and a proud grandmother. She also worked at Brees Rest Home in Albia for many years, retiring in 1985. Family was everything to her, and she loved spending time with them.

Violet is survived by her children, Dennis (Penny) Inman of Muscatine, Marlene (Ronnie) Clark of Albia, Charles (Carla) Inman of Ottumwa and Marilyn Inman of Coralville; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Violet is also survived by two sisters, Virginia and Luella, and a brother Bert, all of Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl; her parents, Bert and Lulu; and a sister, Louise.

Funeral services were held Monday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial followed in Oakview Cemetery in Albia.

An open memorial has been established.
