---- — BLOOMFIELD — Alta Bell Stonebraker, 103, of Bloomfield, died Oct. 16, 2013, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.

She was born July 30, 1910, in her grandfather’s log cabin in Keokuk County to Frank and Mintie Ash Echelberry. She married Clarence H. Stonebraker Aug. 8, 1929, in Sigourney. He preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1998. Alta was a past member of the Hopewell Church near Martinsburg. She was a homemaker, a farm wife and a hard worker who devoted herself to her children and husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Kris) Johnston of Columbus Junction and Brenda (Greg) Comer of Bloomfield; two sons, Junior (Karen) Stonebraker of Bloomfield and Harry (Beverly Christner) Stonebraker of Sigourney; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eva Echelberry; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Melvin Stonebraker; granddaughter, Marilyn Ledbetter; great-granddaughter, Melissa Beenken; great-great-grandson, Logan Adkins; three brothers, James Earl, Raymond and Cecil Echelberry; two sisters, Hazel Echelberry and Blanche Higdon; a stepbrother, Orville Martin; stepsister, Edna Hermanstofer; and two daughters-in-law, Norma Stonebraker and Helen Stonebraker.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; Pastors Gordon Hawkins and Gary Axtell officiating. Burial will be at the Dunnville Cemetery in Davis County.

Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Floris Volunteer Fire Department.
