Lucille E. Lowenberg, 86, of 803 W. 6th St., went home to be with the Lord at 5 a.m. December 7, 2012 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born October 25, 1926 in Wapello County, IA to Adolph and Marie Miller Johnson. She married Loren Lowenberg on June 16, 1944. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2003.
Lucille was a graduate of Farson High School.
She had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and attended Hedrick Christian Church. She was involved with prayer groups and Bible studies and had taught Sunday school and youth groups. She served as a Hospice volunteer. She especially loved her Lord and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed her flowers and her birds.
Surviving are her 8 children, Elaine (Stephen) Tolle of Delta, Stephen (Mary) Lowenberg of Oskaloosa, Alan (Sharon) Lowenberg of Moulton, Dwight (Ruth) Lowenberg of Hedrick, Kathleen (Rev. Bill) Hornback of Ottumwa, Mary (John) Gillam of Ollie, Lisa Doud of Ottumwa and Jane (Mark) Glick of Hedrick; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Loren (Theoris) Johnson of Minnesota and Kenneth (Genevieve) Johnson of Ottumwa; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Ottumwa; a brother-in-law, Warren (Mary) Lowenberg of Ottumwa and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Cobler and Helen Campbell; a brother, Rex Johnson and a great-grandson, Charles P. Hornback.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of the Open Bible with Rev. Bill Hornback and Rev. Carla Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
