OTTUMWA — An Ottumwa teenager charged with stabbing another man to death on Thanksgiving weekend last year will appear in court next week.

On Nov. 27, 2011, officers found Andy Madren, 34, suffering from multiple stab wounds in the 1100 block of East Division Street. He was later pronounced dead at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Later that day, Brandon Joseph Christopher Seim, then 18, was charged with first-degree murder. The next day he pleaded not guilty.

A trial had been set for May but was on hold until a competency evaluation and psychiatric evaluation could be completed. In September, the mental health examination motion was withdrawn.

Seim’s pre-trial conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at the Wapello County Courthouse. He is expected to appear alongside his counsel.
