OTTUMWA — An accident involving an Ottumwa police officer on Saturday is still being investigated by Iowa State Patrol.
The accident, involving Officer Joshua Kobes, happened at approximately 2 p.m. in the 1100 block of Quincy Avenue.
Kobes was responding to a call about a disturbance involving the discharge of a firearm when he struck the rear end of another vehicle. The Iowa State Patrol was then called to the scene to perform an investigation of the accident.
This is the second accident Kobes has been a part of. In January, he was involved in a wreck with a Bridge City Sanitation truck in which he was also responding to a call. That accident was at an intersection, and since Kobes was responding to a call, he did not have to stop at the intersection, and he struck the truck.
He was then transferred to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Iowa State Patrol also performed an investigation into that accident.
